July 31, 2013

Borrowed from Pat Sloan's blog.

Watching: just finished West Wing, and started Game of Thrones from the beginning. Also the new Doctor Who.
Reading: April's Witches by Beverly Crook, and listening to: Hemlock Grove by Brian McGreevy, both inspired by our recent trip to hemlock groves in Western Maryland.
Making: Brains quilt, Tsuro quilt, salsa and pickles.
Feeling: excited about starting up our homeschool again, frustrated with my kids' bickering, needing some quiet alone time.
Planning:  weekend canning, school lessons, my talk at Pax River Quilt Guild in a couple of weeks.
Loving: sunflowers in our yard, butterflies everywhere, including our dining table, fresh produced from our garden.

I finished the binding today. It was a good day to lower the air conditioner and have a Doctor Who marathon.

I've been quilting a Bingo quilt made from blocks of the month I won a couple of years ago.

You can win this beauty on October 20, 2013!

Quilted with shamrocks of various sizes. The title seems obvious from one of the blocks, "Luck of the Irish."

July 11, 2013

Today I'm trying out a technique that is new to me. This quilt pattern is known as four patch posie" or "four patch frenzy."

I'm using some oriental fabric with dragons and flowers.

Some of the blocks turn out so fun, like this one of dragon mouths.

pretty flowers....

very fun!
