May 2nd, 2015

I'm in the midst of my second online drawing course with Susan Shie. It's so much fun! I started with Lucky Drawing 102, and talked my sister into joining me for Lucky Drawing 203.

If you want to try it out, she is about to start a Lucky Drawing 104.

Here are a few of my assigned weekly drawings.

Holiday making and behind on blogging!

 guild exchange blocks

 baby quilt for a friend

local charity auction donation, quilted by my friend Margaret.

I designed and carved a stamp to make some ornaments for friends.

I sewed my printed fabric onto a felt backing, and added some ribbon hangers with decorative buttons.

I made approximately a bajillion of these felt bacon ornaments.

and finally, a collage for my hubby, made from an Abita beer wrapper, sheet music and various other ephemera with acrylic paint, gel medium and pastels.

Ah, it's football widow time again. I spent the evening hiding in my room, playing with my art journals.

September 6, 2012

At our beach vacation, I had time to sit and sketch and play in my art journals. This is the only page that basically started from scratch. I love watching seagulls so I decided to sketch some. And the lifeguard's blue umbrella really caught my eye.

I added a little to a lot of pages.

Watercolor over gel glue resist; added some pencil drawing around the stickers to give dimension.

Added a little background color to this one.

Added swirly pattern on the hand on the right, with prismacolor pencil.

I must have fall leaves on the brain. Tissue paper glued down and colored over with prismacolor pencils.

Added water to the trunk shape.

Added a watercolor wash to the flames at the top.
These are all in two books that I made a while back from old watercolor studies I made in college.

Some of my art journal pages in progress. I made these as a way to recycle old watercolor studies from a college course in watercolor painting. They includes watercolor and acrylic paint, sharpie pens, prismacolor pencils, rub-ons, gel glue resist, stickers, paper collage, gel medium, crayons, and my new favorite toy...Faber Castell gel sticks. Like a very smooth crayon or oil pastel, but you can add water for watercolor effects.
