Thanks to my amazing team, the raffle quilt is coming along nicely.

Rosa and I finished the appliqued borders.

Amalia and Margaret helped me piece the top. They are fabulous, accurate piecers!

We are getting close to a finished top!

May 31, 2015

I've been steadily working on designing and hand appliqueing borders for my guild's 2016 raffle quilt.

These are the blocks. I started with the large blocks, which are approximately 20 years old. After I picked a setting I like, I asked current guild members to make the smaller setting blocks.

I designed top and bottom borders based on elements in the blocks.

A guild member used her Accuquilt die cutter to cut out scrappy flowers and leaves for us.

Wow, the holidays get so busy!

Gifts for friends....

Holiday block swaps...

Making slow progress on ongoing projects.

Making progress on Baltimore Garden, block B4.

My guild's block of the month. It's a free moda pattern if you like it. I think it's super cute.

Fun, colorful hourglass blocks for my guild's anniversary quilt. Maybe I'll win this year?

October 2, 2014

I've finished block B2, Rachel's Ribbons, Birds and Berries. It was a relatively quick, easy block. I still need to add embroidery in several places.

I've started on block B4 Rebecca's Ribbon Birds of Peace.

I have been piecing a lot this week. It's nice to do something fairly mindless every now and again. I love how this one is coming together. I love the way it looks curvy but is constructed with all straight lines. This is my first time using Tri Recs tools.

I ended up with 59 blocks so I made one more for an even sixty. I think I'll set them as 6 x 10, and do long thin borders with my extra four patches on each side.

September 21, 2014

I've almost finished the quilt top for a donation to our annual Quilt Bingo.  A friend in the guild will quilt it for me on her longarm.

I'm making good progress on my hand applique project, Baltimore Garden.

September 14, 2014

It's been almost a month since I blogged. I have to get back into the rhythm, I've been sick and travelling and sick and travelling.....

Whilst travelling I finished this block from Baltimore Garden.

I've started my next block, with some female cardinals! It was a challenge finding the right fabric in my stash.

I'm still doing this...

We have officially reached "I could never see another tomato and it would be too soon" season.

I've been working on another hand applique project as well, with a deadline in February 2015.

July 28, 2014

I finished the flowers on two Baltimore Garden blocks over our beach weekend vacation.

The flowers still need gold centers. I am thinking of doing all the centers in all the blocks the same color.

Today, I am featured on Barbara Burnham's blog.

I count myself so lucky to live near Barbara and see her regularly at Baltimore Applique Society meetings where I can ask her questions and take advantage of her expertise.

I am so flattered that she asked to reprint an article I wrote for the BAS newsletter!

June 19, 2014

Last weekend was the Annapolis Quilt Guild annual show. Baltimore Applique Society was the special exhibitors and I had two quilts in the exhibit.

I also did a demonstration on making circles with Karen Kay Buckley's Perfect Circles.  I'm always learning little tips here and there, more tools for my toolbox. Here's a great tip on making circles I read on the blog A Few of My Favorite Things today.

Tuesday  I made some fun blocks of the month in "desert colors", not a palette I often use.

Wednesday, I took a fun class with Lauren Kingsland called Quilting to your Center. We made meditative designs based on Indian kolam.

June 8, 2014

I finished my monstrous project, but cannot publish images of it yet. Here's a teaser of the back.

Finished hand quilting my Captain Aust block. The dark gray rayon thread looks very shiny in this photo. Still needs binding, sleeve and label.

I turned a study for a quilt into a SAQA auction donation.

And I started a couple of new projects, but I'll have to post those later!

June 1, 2014

I've been working on a big, heavy quilt all weekend. Constructing and quilting such a monster is exhausting. I feel like I've been wrestling a bear.

I successfully installed some grommets.

I finished the applique and embroidery on the Captain Aust block today. Now on to hand quilting. This will be auctioned through Baltimore Applique Society.
